Feeding the Hungry Throughout the North
The Manna Food Project was organized in 1987. Manna is comprised of a food bank, food pantry and other supporting programs. There are hundreds of volunteers who help with every program Manna supports. Manna could not provide the breadth of services if it were not for our dedicated employees, board and volunteers.
Since 1987 Manna has grown to serve as a food bank for more than 37 partner agencies in Antrim, Charlevoix and Emmet counties. Manna works in collaboration with Feeding America West Michigan to purchase quality food and make it available to all of our partner agencies at the lowest price.
Our local Manna Food Pantry serves clients on Tuesday mornings from 9:00 am–12:00 pm at the McBride Park location, off of West Conway Road in Harbor Springs.
Manna works closely with local grocers, restaurants, farmers, and other local businesses to collect and distribute perishable and non-perishable food items. Pantries and soup kitchens receive this food at no cost. More information on our Food Rescue program...
"Food 4 Kids" Backpack Program
The Backpack program began in 2011 and has been going full steam since its inception. The program strives to provide shelf-stable, nutritious food for children who otherwise may not have enough to eat on the weekend when they are not receiving school meals. On average Manna provides 2,200 backpacks each week in Antrim, Charlevoix and Emmet counties to participating schools.
From someone we helped...
Our story is one that has been told. We struggled and we struggled. Its one that all of us have told and or thought . All of us have a story. I came to Manna when I had very young children. My daughters are older now and live their own lives.
Back when we were in the middle of that struggle, as a mother I wondered if we would ever not be there. If we all would be stuck in it. As life went on and we began to evolve and with hard work and determination we made it through it. I knew I would never forgot the people and places that helped us through that.
I have volunteered at Manna to try and give something back to them. Though I could never repay them for the help they gave my family. I am and will always be grateful!
